Horse Riding at the West Common. The West Common is a popular place for horse riding in Lincoln, and horses can be left to graze, or be kept on the area. Each resident household of the city has the right to graze one horse on one of the Commons (the other being South Common) subject to payment of a fee. Lincoln's West Common is a 100 hectare, green space with excellent views of Lincoln Cathedral. At the west limit of Lincoln, this grassy area is home to wildlife as well as a space for outdoor sports. Horses can be found grazing across this whole area, a site dating back to the 11th century and the High Medievak Era's common grazing rights.
